About

A very warm welcome to the Polaris Mountaineering Club web site!

Founded in 1938 and celebrating our 81st year, the club consists of a group of enthusiastic climbers and mountaineers who together form a small friendly club.

We have a nucleus of members in and around the Peak area, the rest being randomly scattered around the country, brought together regularly by our common love of the outdoors. Activities include climbing, walking, mountain biking, canoeing, winter mountaineering, cross country skiing, etc.

In addition to the programme of meets, small local groups of members  make more casual arrangements for outings in their area (typically South Coast, Peak District, Yorkshire, North West).  We’ve also ventured further afield with longer trips to the Alps, the Dolomites and Sardinia, and several of our members have walked and climbed in North & South America, Canada and Nepal.

We’re always keen to share our enthusiasm for the hills with new people, so if you want to find out more, please contact us.
