We are a relatively small (around 50 members) but extremely friendly club and very much welcome potential new members.

We do not have a base as such and our members are located throughout England and Wales but with a nucleus in and around the Nottingham area. We have a very diverse range of members, spanning the whole range of age and experience, from those fairly new to the mountain environment to those with years of mountaineering and climbing under their belt.

Although titled as a mountaineering club members undertake a whole range of activities including hill walking, mountaineering, scrambling, rock climbing, winter climbing, fell running and mountain biking. We are not a “teaching” club and as such do not host formal training sessions, we do however undertake informal training sessions on a regular basis as and when needed.

We run an annual meets programme at venues throughout the UK from the sea cliffs of Cornwall and Dorset, the hills of the Lake District and North Wales, to the mountains of northern Scotland. This consists of around 20 or so weekend meets and 2 or 3 week long meets per year.  As a general rule these are camping meets throughout the summer period (April –September) and mountain hut meets throughout the winter period (October-March). In addition many members meet on an “ad hoc” basis on weekends when there is no formal meet, and late afternoon/evening rock climbing sessions are commonplace throughout the summer.

The usual way to become a member of the club is to attend one of our meets as a guest to give you a taste of what we are about, and if you like what see attendance at a further two meets allows you to apply for formal membership of the club.
